is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the
man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the
week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came
down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His
appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were
so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know
that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen,
just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell
his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with
joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them.
"Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped
him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers
to go to Galilee; there they will see me."
While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into
the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. When the
chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large
sum of money, telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and
stole him away while we were asleep.' If this report gets to the governor, we will
satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." So the soldiers took the money and
did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the
Jews to this very day.
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where
Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some
doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on
earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age."

Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant
about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope We
believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus
those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you
that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not
precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from
heaven, with a loud command with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of
God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and
are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other
with these words.
I Thessalonians 4:13-18
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss
and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent,
who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into
the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations
anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a
short time. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to
judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony
for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his
image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to
life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to
life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second
death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign
with him for a thousand years.

As for you, you were dead in your
transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this
world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those
who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the
cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest,
we were by nature objects of wrath.

Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not
want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you
were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who
is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say
"Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of gifts, but the
same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There
are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now
to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one
there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of
knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another
gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to
another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,
and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one
and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many
parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with
Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or
Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If
the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it
would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that
reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the
sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell
be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as
he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As
it is there are many parts, but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't
need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need
you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are
indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.
And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our
presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the
body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no
division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part
rejoices with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of
it. And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets,
third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able
to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds
of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?
Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in
tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And
now I will show you the most excellent way.

So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of

Acts 10:48
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to
the teachings, just as I passed them on to you.
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ,
and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays
or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. And every woman who prays or
prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head--it is just as though her head were
shaved. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if
it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her
head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but
the woman is the glory of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. For this reason, and because
of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.
In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man
independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of
woman. But everything comes from God. Judge for yourselves: Is it proper
for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of
things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman
has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.
If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice--nor do the
churches of God.
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your
meetings do more harm than good. In the first place, I hear that when you come
together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God's
approval. When you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper you eat, for as you
eat, each of you goes ahead without waiting for anybody else. One remains hungry,
another gets drunk. Don't you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you
despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to
you? Shall I praise you for this? Certainly not!
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you:
The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he
broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of
me." In he same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is
the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of
me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the
Lord's death until he comes.
Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord
in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the
Lord. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the
cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats
and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a
number of you have fallen asleep. But if we judged ourselves, we would not come
under judgment. When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we
will not be condemned with the world.
So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for
each other. If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet
together it may not result in judgment.
And when I come I will give further directions.
