PRESS RELEASE

Midvalley Bible Church will break ground on Sunday, June 26, 2005 for a new church structure in Bluffdale.

We have been working closely with the officials of Bluffdale to ensure that the building will be integrated into the long range planning for city development. We are excited for an opportunity in a community with explosive growth to offer a Bible-teaching and discipleship ministry. Midvalley Bible Church will be the first non-denominational church in this city.

When finished, the building will be a 22,000 square feet, steel frame, stucco and rock structure. Its worship center auditorium will seat in excess of 300, more than double our present capacity. A multi-purpose room will be available for games for youth and for various community activities. Classrooms will provide educational facilities from nursery through adults.

Because of a unique building design and construction approach developed by Dan Cook and Associates, a national church building firm located in Ogden, Utah, the building will cost less than similar structures. The approach called “Building God’s Way” is a comprehensive approach to design and construction that is based on the biblical principles of godly stewardship- the belief that all resources belong to God. This building program not only produces savings, but also provides a platform for ministry, community relationships, faith building, and valuable lessons in prayer. Dan Cook and Associates have used this approach to build Calvary Baptist Church in SaltLake, Christian Heritage School in Ogden,

Mountain Vista United Methodist Church in West Jordan and the Heritage Rehabilitation Center in Provo.  (www.BuildingGodsWay.com)

Joe Morello, the building contractor, is fully committed to the Building God’s Way approach.  He has built numerous structures of equivalent size in California and has recently returned to his home state, Utah.

Midvalley Bible Church has been a presence in the Salt Lake Valley since 1953, when John Hornok moved his family here and started holding services in the Murray Fire Hall. Shortly afterwards they purchased a former Lutheran church building at 171 East 4800 South and became known as Murray Bible Church. In 1968 the church began the Awana youth program designed to learn Bible verses and spiritual truth while having fun. In  1974 Ken Hornok,

the current pastor, became its spiritual leader. In 1983 the church relocated to a former LDS chapel in Midvale and changed its name to Midvalley Bible Church. In 2000 land was purchased in Bluffdale and the congregation began meeting in temporary facilities. In 2003 Ethan Davis became Pastor of Congregational Ministries.

The public is invited to join with us in our ground-breaking celebration at the church property, 13800 South 2700 West just south of Bangerter highway on Sunday, June 26 at 10:30 AM.  Bluffdale officials and our pastors will participate in the ceremony.  Bill Coupe, missionary to Ecuador from Layton, Utah, will present a brief report. Following the service, a picnic will be held in Centennial Park, Riverton, to which all are invited. The park is located at 12875 South 2700 West.
