“Would
you like to have your face painted? “Do you want to make a free
bracelet or necklace?” “You can enter our drawing for a DVD
player or other prizes.” With these offers at our booth, MBC
participated in “Bluffdale Days” on June 18.
Bluffdale
is the name of the southern suburb of Salt Lake City where our church
property is located. We decided to have a booth at the city’s
annual event as a way to build relationships in the community.
Residents
who stopped by our booth said they had seen our sign: “Future home of
Midvalley Bible Church” and wondered about it. Some took information
about our church. All were invited to our Ground-Breaking Ceremony
on June 26 and the picnic that follows.
About
forty people made a bracelet with black, red, white, gold, and green beads
and took home a paper explaining how the colors relate to having eternal
life. Most people were surprised that
everything at our booth was free.
The
DVD player was won by a 16-year-old boy. This and the other prizes, nine
for adults and six for children, will be delivered to winners’ homes.
It
was a great way to get to know a few of the residents of Bluffdale and let
them know we are a caring and giving church.
